Salma Hayek's Husband Settles Child Support Battle

After a vicious public court battle, Salma Hayek’s billionaire husband settled with model (and former lover) Linda Evangelista. Francois-Henri Pinault had a brief affair with Evangelista back in 2006 when he was separated from Mexican actress Salma Hayek. The affair led to a son, 5-year-old Augustin, and Pinault sued the French billionaire for child support.

Pinault allegedly wanted Evangelista to have an abortion, and told the judge he "was not involved in the decision of having the baby" and that they had only spent "about seven days" together before she spilled the news.

Pinault is the CEO for a company that owns many fashion lines, including Gucci and Yves St. Laurent. His family’s net worth is estimated to be around $13 billion. Now married to Hayek, they have 4-year-old daughter, Valentina.

Evangelista was seeking $46,000 a month in child support, and claimed that what Pinault spent on his daughter Valentina should be taken into account for what he spends on Augustin. The two reached a settlement last week for an undisclosed amount and released a joint statement saying, “We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement for the benefit and well-being of our son, Augie.”

Pinault revealed during trial that the timing of Evangelista pregnancy was particularly difficult, due to the fact that Hayek was told that daughter Valentina might have Down syndrome. “She was having a very difficult pregnancy,” Pinault said of Hayek. “In fact, we were told the baby had Down syndrome until late May 2007.” He also claimed that Hayek almost lost the baby, with many other health scares during the entire pregnancy. Valentina was born healthy with no signs of Down syndrome in September of 2007.

Although the settlement amount is undisclosed, it has to be a substantial sum. What do you think, did she ask for a fair amount?
