Salma Hayek opened up about her beauty and privilege in the September issue of Allure. The 44-year-old Mexican actress—who recently launched Salma Hayek Nuance Line (a collection of skincare, hair, body and cosmetics products) at CVS/pharmacy—said she never understood the point of having money if you don’t take advantage of the unique opportunities it provides. On raising her 4-year-old daughter Valentina Paloma, Hayek said, “I think it’s important that kids have responsibilities and understand the value of things, but I think it’s great I get to travel the world with my daughter." Hayek has made millions as a successful Hollywood actress, but her 2009 marriage to France’s third richest man, François-Henri Pinault, elevated her to a new standard of living.
Hayek also said that women should be more at ease with their sexuality in their 40s. “You are more self-assured about that part. And that's the way it should be,” she said. “If you are a girl who cannot walk in heels, it doesn't matter how beautiful you are. If you look like a chicken that's been spiked in the feet, it's not going to be sexy."
The actress, currently filming The Savages, is acutely aware of her status as a Hollywood sex symbol and has embraced that image as she has aged. “They’re not bad, by the way,” she said of her breasts. “I’m not complaining about them."
