After an unexpected “run-in” with a fan, Olympic champion swimmer Ryan Lochte will be taking a break from training.

The 29-year-old suffered a torn MCL and a sprained ACL in his left knee on Sunday. The Olympian was in Florida when a teenage girl spotted the athlete and ran at him, according to USA Today.

The cubano caught the charging fan, but they both toppled over and hit the curb. While the girl was unharmed, Lochte blew out his left knee.

“As a result of a freak injury caused by an unexpected fan encounter...Ryan will be taking a break from training and competition,” his publicist said in a statement.

Lochte, who won two gold medals, two silver, and a bronze in the London Olympics, recently relocated to Charlotte, N.C. to train for the next Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

According to his publicist, the swimming champ should make a speedy recovery, and will be training again soon.

Best of luck, Ryan!
