It has been an extremely difficult year for Robi Draco Rosa. The 42-year-old ex-Menudo star has undergone extensive treatment after a cancerous tumor was found in his stomach – near his liver. From his home in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the musician spoke to Univision’s Primer Impacto about his life since his diagnosis. “I’m here with a lot of faith,” he told reporter Bárbara Bermudo. When asked about whether his state of health is a result of the excessive life he once led, Draco Rosa remained neutral. “To each his own,” he said. “I straightened up years ago.”
According to People en Español, Draco Rosa appeared relaxed in his home, surrounded by hills. His wife, Ángela Alvarado, spoke for the first time about the reaction of their sons – 16-year-old Rebel and 10-year-old Rédamo César – after hearing the news of their father’s cancer. “The first thing they asked was if people die from this,” she said. “The answer was ‘No.’ Alvarado said both boys stressed that their father would be strong.
After his publicist announced the diagnosis earlier this year, Draco Rosa was sent to the Burzynski Clinic, an advanced cancer treatment center in Houston, Texas. According to the Latin American Herald Tribune, Draco Rosa said he was lucky to be alive. He told El Nuevo Dia that during treatment, he discovered “a thousand things” about his character and personality that have since changed his life.
