After appearing on The Bachelorette and winning Ali Fedotowsky’s heart, Roberto Martinez is back on the market – and possibly back on the air, with rumors flying that he’s to be the next star of The Bachelor.
After an 18-month engagement, Life & Style magazine is reporting that 29-year-old insurance agent Martinez is moving on with his life, and is confirmed for the next season.
“He's already signed the contract," a production insider told them.
E! Online, however, is claiming that’s not quite the case. Their insider states that nothing has been signed, and nothing will be finalized until the end of summer. ABC might be casting an unknown or waiting to see what guys from the season of The Bachelorette appeal to watchers (and need a second chance at love).
This rumor comes after a lawsuit filed against ABC in April, which accused ABC of racial discrimination. Bachelor contestants Nathaniel Claybrooks and Christopher Johnson both claimed they weren’t given equal opportunity to star on the show because they are African-American. ABC responded that they have always been “vocal about seeking diverse candidates.”
If Martinez stars, he will be the first-non white bachelor to be featured on the show.
