U.S. Spanish radio has lost one of its most treasured voices. According to Huffington Post Latino Voices, Betty Pino died on Tuesday morning after battling an unknown bacterial infection. Pino, who worked for Univision’s Amor 107.5 FM in Miami, was known by many as the ‘Queen of the Radio.’
In mid-July, Pino was hospitalized and had been placed in an induced coma while doctors tried several different treatments.
The Ecuadorian radio personality’s publicist Nina Ruiz confirmed her death to HuffPost Voces. Ruiz and Pino’s close friend Alina Torres also said that by the time a treatment for the infection was found for Pino, the bacteria had deteriorated her body and compromised several organs.
