Crowds heading to New York Fashion Week next week aren’t going to be able to help themselves from noticing one 70 ft fashion statement. PETA’s newest spokesmodel for the anti-cruelty to animals organization is none other than the sultry Spanish star Penelope Cruz. The actress’s intensely beautiful eyes will look down from a giant billboard atop Madison Square Garden next to a caption that reads: “Give fur the cold shoulder.”
“Penelope Cruz has appeared on every ‘best-dressed’ list in the world, and the one thing you’ll never see her wearing is fur,” stated Yvonne Taylor of PETA according to The Hollywood Reporter. “One couldn’t ask for a more fitting emblem of the modern, glamorous woman who knows that there’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who has a look that kills without anyone having to die for it.”
Cruz has been an animal lover for many years adopting cats and dogs from shelters and showing them off at premieres. She even admitted to using cats as company in her early career in an interview with Vogue, “I would find cats in the street and take them with me. I raised a lot of cats in that period.”
Past PETA celebrities have included Eva Mendez, First Lady Michelle Obama and Olivia Munn.
