Paulina Rubio's Father Passes Away

Paulina Rubio has survived an emotional roller coaster these last few months. First, she welcomed a son into the world in November after a complicated delivery that forced her to abandon her home birthing plan. In the end, everything was fine and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Andrea.

At the time, one of the most important men in her life was by her side (no, not hubby Nicolás Vallejo-Nájera), her father Enrique Rubio. But the tables were turned this week, when Paulina rushed from Miami to Mexico to be with her father when he suffered a stroke and was admitted into a local DF hospital on January 3rd after spending the holidays with the family.

Though initially diagnosed as “critical but stable,” Enrique's health quickly deteriorated and he died on Tuesday at the age of 67. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rubio family.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
