“I know where all the meetings are, all over the area,” Oscar De La Hoya tells the Los Angeles Times, as he stares out the window of his high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles. “And usually, I’m the first one to raise my hand.”
According to VOXXI, De La Hoya is faced with a constant struggle against his alcohol addiction. Boxing's Golden Boy has fought to maintain sobriety since his retirement.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the boxing legend attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings six days a week, sometimes twice a day, sometimes as early as 5 a.m.
“My name is Oscar and I'm an alcoholic,” he will say at each meeting.
