The Orphaned Starfish Foundation (OSF), an internationally recognized Foundation that provides computer vocational training centers for over 7,000 orphans and disadvantaged children throughout 17 countires in the developing world, recently held its 10th Annual Gala at Cipriani, Wall Street in New York City.

"This is our tenth Annual Gala and a very special night for us. It has been a very exciting year for Orphaned Starfish Foundation. I'm humbled by the amount of support we are receiving," said Andrew Stein, Chairman of Orphaned Starfish Foundation. "It will move the foundation to a whole new level, and enable us to improve the lives of even more children."

The Gala, the Foundation's largest fundraising event, honored Alonzo Quintana, CEO, Empresas ICA and Ryan Ansin, President of the Family Office Association for the extraordinary dedication to helping disadvantaged children and at-risk youth. Additionally, seven orphans from seven countries were celebrated for their achievements in the Orphaned Starfish Programs, making their first trip out of their respective countries, for many their first time on a plane, for this special occasion.

"I've been involved since 2006 and each year we continue to grow our programs," said Joanna Scholl, OSF Board of Directors and VP of Consumer Marketing HBO. "This year we have 37 programs in 17 countries and are building upon that with the mission being to empower orphans and at-risk youth in Latin America to ultimately escape a life of abuse and poverty."

We spotted some of our favorite stars on the red carpet (and in front of the podium). Paula Garces served as hostess for the gala. "As a Latina, it hits home because OSF works a lot in Latin America and the Caribbean. These children all come from heartbreaking backgrounds and they have hopes and dreams and we are here to help them achieve it."

Both Miss USA Nia Sanchez and Miss Universe Gabriela Isler walked the red carpet and shared just why the OSF is so special.

"The organization is doing amazing work to help these children to get into the workforce, in the Latin American countries," shared Sanchez.

"I feel so proud and grateful as a Latina," said Isler. "Orphaned Starfish is helping so many orphaned children to develop skills.I feel proud to be at an event that helps children including many in Latin American countries."
