Nicole Richie finally explained the reason for the elephant at her wedding this past weekend. And no, it's not what she told Larry King Live! guest host Ryan Seacrest back in 2005 when she was engaged to DJ AM. At the time she gushed about having an "extravagant" wedding. "You know, the movie Coming to America?" she asked Seacrest, "I want it bigger than that!"
But apparently, the elephant in the room was not brought to the fête just to make the party more opulent, but rather because Nicole, 29, believes they are good luck and "beautiful animals."
Her wedding photos also debuted on PEOPLE this morning and Nicole's displayed her one of a kind style in a long-sleeve, full-skirted confection that was as demure as it was unique. The Marchesa creation, inspired by Grace Kelly's iconic wedding gown, featured a skirt that used more than 100 yards of silk organza and tulle. Of her wedding night, Richie said, "It was magical."
Her hubby, Joel Madden, 31, told PEOPLE, "It was the best night of my life."
We have a feeling Richie will be inspiring a whole new bunch of future brides for many years to come.
