Michael Trevino on 'The Vampire Diaries' and 5 Other Latino Bloodsuckers We Love!

The CW's hit series, The Vampire Diaries returns tonight with Mexican actor Michael Trevino as our favorite vampire/werewolf hybrid Tyler Lockwood and we can't wait to see what will happen in the highly anticipated spring premiere! With Michael on our minds, we got to thinking about our favorite Latino vampires ever! Here are six of our favorite Latino bloodsuckers!

1. Vampires: Mia Maestro & Christian Carmango

Mia Maestro and Christian Camargo, Twilight

In The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Parts 1 and 2, Argentine actress Mia Maestro plays Carmen Denali, a vegetarian vampire who is a member of the Denali clan, and who’s the cousin of the Cullens. We first meet Maestro’s character in Breaking Dawn Part 1 where she’s seen as one of the guests at Edward (Rob Pattinson) and Bella's (Kristen Stewart) wedding. But in Part 2 (due out next year), Maestro and Mexican actor Christian Camargo (who plays her husband, Eleazar, in the films), have a bigger role “because we’re the first vampires that help the Cullens protect Edward and Bella’s baby.”

2. Vampires: Michael Trevino

Michael Trevino, The Vampire Diaries

In season three of the CW’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) turned Tyler Lockwood (Mexican actor Michael Trevino) into his first successful werewolf/vampire hybrid. Trevino recently told us why that's both a good and a bad thing for his character. "Tyler isn't bound by the moon anymore—he doesn't have the curse of the moon and he doesn't need to change into a werewolf unless he wants to,” he said. “But he's also got new supernatural powers! He can compel people now like vampires do. He's got this vamp speed and he can feed on people's blood. So it's these little things that once they're available to you, you're going to indulge.”

3. Vampires: Antonio Banderas

Antonio Banderas, Interview with the Vampire

In Neil Jordan’s high-profile adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas played Armand, a vampire who claimed to be 400 years old, and the oldest living vampire in the world. We didn’t care how old Armand was—as long as he was legal! Yum!

4. Vampires: Valerie Cruz

Valerie Cruz, True Blood

On season two of HBO’s hit show True Blood, Cuban actress Valerie Cruz played the recurring role of Isabella Beaumont, an elegant, 600-year-old Spanish vampire who is a member of the Dallas vamps. When she was first introduced, Isabel seemed like she was going to be trouble—but she quickly proved herself to be a kind ally to Bill (Stephen Moyer), Sookie (Ana Paquin) and Godric (Allan Hyde). We love that Isabel is such a sweetheart and we also love that Cruz modeled her accent for the character after Penelope Cruz!

5. Vampires: Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek, From Dusk Till Dawn

The Mexican actress played Santanico Pandemonium, a sexy, undead stripper who seduces her victims with an albino boa.

6. Vampires: Chayanne

Chayanne, 43

Chayanne prepared for his role as an undead vampire in Gabriel: Amor Immortal by sleeping during the day and working at night. The actor/singer said the production tried to "make things look as real as possible."
