Mexican 'The Voice' Singer Alejandro Fuentes Killed in Chicago Shooting

Alejandro "Jano" Fuentes, a former contestant on the Mexican version of The Voice, was killed during a Chicago ambush over the weekend.

Fuentes, 45, was out celebrating his birthday with friends when he was shot outside his performing arts school, Tras Bambalinas School, according to The Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Reports state that the singer and his friends got into his car when an armed man suddenly appeared and shot him in the head three times.

ABC notes that police said they had no suspects in the attack and were investigating whether the shooting was an attempted carjacking or robbery. No arrests have been made.

Fuentes appeared on the Mexican singing show in 2011, and then moved to Chicago in 2013 to open a performing arts school, where he taught young people to act, sing, dance and model.
