Together with his son Emilio Estevez, concerned dad Martin Sheen opened up to a Sky News reporter in the U.K. about his son Charlie’s recurring struggles with addiction, for which he recently entered rehab, causing CBS to halt production on Two And A Half Men. The two were in town promoting Emilio’s new film, The Way, which he wrote, directed, and stars in (as Martin’s on-screen son).
As difficult as it is for the family to face Charlie's disease—which he compared to cancer—in the public eye, Emilio pointed out that when you’ve been in showbiz as long as they have, “you get used to it…you build up an immunity.”
Martin added that the best way to help Charlie heal is to “love that much more…be that much more present.”
Here’s to hoping Charlie can get cured soon!
