After Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon suffered a health scare recently, a source close to the married couple said the experience has brought them closer.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Cannon’s father, James Cannon, said the part-Venezuelan singer and comedian/actor have a very strong bond. “If anything, this unexpected illness has made them closer than ever and appreciate one another even more,” he said. As we reported last week, Carey announced via Twitter that her 31-year-old husband was in a hospital after suffering mild kidney failure.
Carey has been incredibly supportive of Cannon, even asking her fans to pray for him. “We are trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” the 41-year-old singer wrote on her official website. While she stayed with her husband at the hospital, Carey would also post updates of her husband’s progress through her Twitter account.
Cannon was released already, but the scare ushered his father to reflect on the relationship between the married couple. “Nick and Mariah are really good for one another -- they have so much in common and can make the other one laugh,” he told Us Weekly. “So they managed to cope even though Nick was pretty sick. But he is glad to be home now and his whole family is pleased about that also.”
