After Marc Anthony was bashed on Twitter for not being "American" enough to sing God Bless America at the MLB All Star Game, and with others questioning his pronunciation of "America," the born-and-bred New Yorker set the haters straight on the show Live with Kelly and Michael.
“There were some statements made that people were upset that they would have someone from another country sing the national anthem. Let’s get this straight. I was born and raised in New York. You can’t get more New York than me," he said.
Even though his parents were born in Puerto Rico, Marc Anthony was born in Spanish Harlem. “I just want to set the record straight,” he said. “I’m more Puerto Rican than ever. I’m more New York than ever.”
Many of those who tweeted have since deleted their accounts. Are you still as confused by others' reactions as we were? Share in the comments!
