Laurie Hernandez cannot be stopped.
The gymnast is part of the MTV and the Association of National Advertisers (ANA)'s initiative for Women's History Month. The #SeeHer and A Woman Did That campaign highlights groundbreaking females and their accomplishments in every area of business, culture, entertainment and more. The movement hopes to accurately portray women and girls in media by the year 2020. (Chances are, Hernandez will be a huge part of making this happen).
In the video above, the 16-year-old star cites her Latina heritage as a main source of inspiration. "Growing up, I didn't see too many Hispanics and I was really excited to be a role model for not just my generation, but generations ahead," she said.
And though young, Hernandez already has an idea of what a well-rounded, powerful woman should be. Watch above to hear more.
