13 Latino Celebs Who Are LGBT Allies & Supporters

"Equality for all," is the message that many Latino celebrities are supporting. Most recently, Jennifer Lopez was honored at the 2013 Human Rights Campaign National Dinner at Washington Convention Center in DC with the Ally for Equality Award

“Jennifer Lopez embodies the spirit of an ally to the LGBT community and we are thrilled to present her the Ally for Equality at our National Dinner in October,” HRC president Chad Griffin said in a recent press release. “We recognize Jennifer for her talent, style, compassion, philanthropy and generosity, but foremost for her public commitment to LGBT equality.” 

But J.Lo isn't the only one who supports the LGBT community! See which celebs are standing up for the rights of others:

1. Gay Community Supporters: Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato

The 21-year-old singer is known for having always been a huge supporter of the LGBT community. She was named this year's Los Angeles Pride grand marshall and on June 24 attended Logo TV's Trailblazer event, where she shared a personal story about her grandfather. "I've never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself," Lovato said before presenting an award to Orange Is the New Black at Logo's event.

"He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made."

2. Gay Community Supporters: Romeo Santos

The Dominican and Puerto Rican bachata artist released a song called "No Tiene la Culpa," dedicated to raising awareness for the LGBT community.

3. Gay Community Supporters: gloria estefan

Gloria Estefan

Estefan has long been a supporter of the gay community. In 2012, following the release of her single "Hotel Nacional," the singer gave thanks and gratitude to her biggest fans. "I want to thank you so much, because the gay community has been behind me 100%," she said during a speech. "'Conga' broke through in all the gay clubs before anybody else noticed it was a hot song. You guys have been close to heart and always will be." Now, the Cubana has been named one of the Grand Marshals for the 2014 Miami Beach Gay Pride parade and festival.

4. Gay Community Supporters: Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez always has her gay fans in mind working on a new album she told The Advocate. From preforming at LGBT events to playing a lesbian in Gigli, she's now taken including the gay community in project of hers  a step further by producing ABC's The Fosters. The 44 year-old Puerto Rican revealed that inspiration for the show, about a lesbian couple in a diverse household, was inspired by her gay aunt who passed away from cancer.

5. Gay Community Supporters: Howie Dorough

Backstreet's fully back together, celebrating 20 years of when they first formed and support for the LGBT community. The 39-year-old part-Puerto Rican, a husband and father who recently welcomed his second child, joined his BSB boys and their new age counterparts, The Wanted, for a Pride concert in London's famous G-A-Y club. BSB's latest video for "In a World Like This" gives nod to gay marriage by featuring a clip of two men getting married.

6. Gay Community Supporters: Naya Rivera

Known for her portrayal of the teen lesbian with the sharpest tongue on Glee,  Naya Rivera is just as much as involved with the gay community as Santana Lopez is on the show, being somewhat of a gay icon. She told Latina last year that she gets so many tweets a day from people thanking her for her role, and saying how Santana has changed their lives, enabling them to come out. The 26-year-old part-Puerto Rican hosted two GLAAD Media Awards events in a row the past few years, among the many events and organizations she supports.

7. Gay Community Supporters: America Ferrera

America Ferrera

America Ferrera is so much like her character on Ugly Betty, it's no shocker that she too would be a proponent for love and equality. The 29-year-old Houdran, and fellow Latino Ugly Betty co-stars, Tony Plana and Ana Ortiz, starred in a PSA to urge Latino Californians to vote "no" on the notorious Prop 8 She tweeted joy of the progress made on marriage equality when both Prop 8 and Doma were overturned.

8. Gay Community Supporters: Enrique Iglesias

The 28-year-old Spaniard has been a longtime supporter of the community. even before his fellow sexy Latino musician, Ricky Martin, came out. Enrique Iglesias has  serenaded gay fans on stage (and also has made supportive remarks during them), performed at gay clubs, supports causes ( and even has said he admires some his gay friends relationships.

9. Gay Community Supporters: Sofia Vergara

When she's not on Modern Family or filming for one her latest movies, the Colombiana (41) can be found supporting the LGBT community either an event or through public message. A couple years ago she recorded a PSA for GLAAD's "Be An Ally and a Friend" campaign, which she delivered in her native tongue for the Latino community. She told The Advocate why she shot it: "We should all be tolerant and respectful of people’s sexuality. We have to appreciate each other’s differences and accept people who have the courage to accept themselves. That’s beautiful."

10. Gay Community Supporters: Sara Ramirez

Before Naya's Santana, we were given Dr. Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy, who's coming out story brought Sara Ramirez her first ALMA Award nom. The part-Mexican 37-year-old reaffirmed her support for LGBT right to Latina earlier this year: ""I’m always going to support the LGBT community and equal rights for the LGBT community. That’s going to be with me ‘till the day I die and beyond. I mean, that’s just what it is! And thank God I have a life partner [husband Ryan Debolt] who just wants nothing more than to stand by my side and support me in that." 

11. Gay Community Supporters: Eva Longoria

As a supporter of President Barrack Obama, when he announced his support of same-sex marriage, Eva Longoria was overwhelmed with joy. The 38-year-old tweeted out ""This is an incredible day in the history of civil rights in America. I applaud President @BarackObama and all he has done for LGBT Americans. #Equality". Along with supporting the community here in the states, she supports equality internationally. She recently took part in French campaign about love, posing as a faux lesbian in a photo for the campaign. 

12. Gay Community Supporters: Rosario Dawson

As a supporter of PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), Rosario Dawson takes part of its Stay Close campaign, as a highlighted celebrity who is close to her or her LGBT family member(s) to inspire support in others. Her participation in the campaign was inspired by her closeness to Uncle Frank and his partner Vincenzo; she lived with the couple as a teenager in New York. The 34-year-old part-Puerto Rican recently became an HRC member, and spoke with Latina last summer and said whenever she has kids in the future, she'll be focusing on "trying to make the world a better place for my baby."

13. Gay Community Supporters: Snooki

Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi

Snooki loves the gay community so much that she's praying to have a gay little boy one day.  The 25-year-old Chilean has recently been on full support for the community. Following posing for the NOH8 campaign, she's gone to attend and host LGBT events, stuck up for gay rights on air, and commended President Barack Obama for supporting same-sex marriage. She's stated her support comes from having a lot of friends who are gay.
