La La Vazquez's hubby Carmelo Anthony made his Big Apple debut last night as the NY Knicks took on the Milwaukee Bucks. Wearing lucky number seven, Anthony scored more than 20 points, sending a clear message that he intended on making a big impact in the big city.
It looks as though La La is making huge moves too! News recently broke that VH1 has tapped the former MTV Veejay and radio personality for another season of her hugely successful reality series chronicling her star-studded marriage last year to Anthony. The new series, titled La La Carmelo's Full Court Life already began filming in January and will pick up where the last show left off, following Anthony and Vazquez as they prepare for their move to New York City.
“Viewers connect with La La because despite the fairy-tale wedding and NBA star husband, she is a real, down-to-earth, hardworking woman who stays true to herself,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Original Programming and Production, VH1. “The best thing about the new series is that while pursuing and realizing her dreams, La La gets to take us back to her home in New York, where her story began.” The show is scheduled to air in August.
And Vazquez could not be happier about moving back home. At Melo's first game with the Knicks last night, La La gave an adorable half-time interview to an MSG reporter. She said it felt "amazing" to watch her hubby play in the famed Madison Square Garden, and gushed, "I feel like we’re living a dream right now!"
She also dished on a not-so-subtle wedding present they received from Spike Lee at their Fall 2010 nuptials, though she declined to say what was inside the actual box, she said with a laugh "Spike’s gift was huge and wrapped in Knick’s wrapping paper!" Even the toasts at their wedding reception weren't immune to basketball gossip. Amar'e Stoudemire (a longtime friend of the couple) predicted he'd be playing with Melo soon, raising a glass with the former Denver Nugget and superstar point guard Chris Paul (currently playing with the New Orleans Hornets) to playing together for the NY Knicks.
One thing the family is still deciding on is where to live and it seems like everyone has an opinion. Vazquez said that they are still trying to find the perfect residence and joked, "I have at least 200 referrals right now," when asked if she needed a broker.
