WATCH: La La Talks AIDS, Wants to End "Ignorance Out There"

Latinas accounted for 21 percent (2,000) of new infections among Latinos in 2009, making their rate of HIV infection more than four times that of white women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And La La Anthony is working hard to raise awareness about this issue!

Anthony works with Reed for Hope as an AIDS awareness ambassador. "I want to use my voice for something good," she told NBC Latino. "In the Hispanic and African American communities there’s so much ignorance out there when it comes to it.”

The 34-year-old, who describes herself as Afro-Puerto Rican, says she will be educating her son Kiyan about HIV/AIDS when the time comes. But she also said it is important for every single one of us to educate ourselves on this disease.
