As friends, family, and fans continue to mourn Jenni Rivera’s untimely death, countless of celebrities have been deeply touched by her passing. Last week, a private jet carrying the 43-year-old regional Mexican singer and six others crashed in the mountains 60 miles south of Monterrey.
Jennifer Lopez has opened up publically about Jenni's tragic passing and expressed to the Associated Press, "I didn't know her personally but I knew of her. For me, just being on tour right now, you live the same type of life. You know what I mean? It's travelling, it's doing shows.” She also added, “She considered herself a businesswoman as well, besides an artist, and she had kids and I'm sure she was rushing home to get home to her kids at that time so she took the flight at three in the morning.”
The Mexican American star was quickly building her empire with a new fragrance, a starring role in the indie movie Filly Brown, and her highly-anticipated album, La Misma Gran Señora. The Boricua pop star reflected on the star who perished too soon. “So you go like, 'Wow, it's just like a wake-up call for everybody'. It's tragic. She was so young... and she had five kids. It just wasn't her time."
Since Jenni’s passing, her remains have since been recovered and flown back to California. Rivera’s funeral and public memorial will be held in her native town of Long Beach today, while a private ceremony will also take place tomorrow. Gloria Estefan, Mario Lopez, and Edward James Olmos are expected to be in attendance.
