Jennifer Lopez: Forget Phelps, I'm the Real Story

Splash News & Retna Ltd.

Michael Phelps who? The Olympian may be breaking records and winning gold in China, but Jennifer Lopez insists that as a new mom training for the triathlon, her achievement is a bigger deal.

After her segment talking about her preparations for the Malibu Triathlon on Good Morning America on Monday, Jennifer was overheard by a GMA stager saying she "couldn't understand why everyone is talking about that swimmer." The source tells MSNBC, "she couldn't come up with (eight-time gold-medal winner Michael) Phelps' name, and then she yammered on about how she was the one training for a triathlon just six months after giving birth, and how that was the big story right now, not 'the swimmer.'"

Okay, granted we're pretty impressed with Jennifer for doing a triathlon when we can't even do three push-ups in a row, and she is using the experience to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, but aren't her demands for attention just a wee bit egocentric? Guess that's just par for the course when J. Lo is concerned—and that's why we love her!
