Javier Bardem is No Longer “El Macho” in 'Despicable Me'

If you were looking forward to seeing Javier Bardem in the upcoming movie Despicable Me 2, we have some not-so-great news. The Oscar-nominated Spanish actor (No Country for Old Men, Biutiful) has dropped out of the project.

Bardem, who was in negotiations to voice bad guy El Macho in the animated sequel, has parted from the Universal Studios film for undisclosed reasons according to The Hollywood Reporter. His departure leaves the voice of the father and evil genius available for someone else to snatch.

Bardem fans need not fear. Devotees can catch the actor as Daniel Craig’s antagonist in the upcoming James Bond thriller Skyfall, set to open in theatres in October.
