Javier Bardem won the International Star award at the opening ceremony for the Palm Springs International Film Festival over the weekend and the Spanish actor took the opportunity to thank his wife Penelope Cruz.

In a rare instance of public acknowledgement (the duo are notoriously private about their relationship) he dedicated the award to Cruz, saying: "I want to share this with my love, with Penelope, for the wonderful human being that she is. She is a gift..."

This is only the second time Javier has publically shouted his wife out, last year at the Cannes Film festival, a choked up Bardem thanked Cruz when he won the Best Actor award.

Natalie Portman and Javier also shared a love fest with the Black Swan actress thanking Bardem for his support while they filmed Goya's Ghost and saying, "I think he’s one of those actors that really helped me and people like me to love what we do ... I know he’s going to be the best ever in his newest role — that of father and husband.”

I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
