Perhaps you have stumbled across Rosa Salazar while surfing the television.
The up-and-coming Maryland-bred actress has had a slew of television credits to her name, including her role as a murdered nurse student in FX’s American Horror Story. The serial horror-drama series, which centers on a family that moves to a haunted house, airs every Wednesday at 10pm E/P.
Salazar also landed a season-long arc this year in NBC’s Parenthood – as a pregnant teen named Zoe whose unborn baby is in the middle of a bidding war.
In an interview with comedy writer Ross Carey, Salazar spoke about what first drew her to acting.
“Oh man, I just could not shut up!” Salazar said. “I was just that kid in the family that you put on the table and watch it dance around and you’re like ‘Oh, look at that hyper kid!’” After high school, Salazar traveled a lot and eventually landed in New York. While there, she decided she wanted to act. Within the past year, Salazar has starred in several shorts, including Sim’s Night Out, Anime Guy Goes on a Date, and Jackass for Girls. This year, she appeared in Law & Order: LA.
So what’s next for the budding actress?
Her latest role is in FOX’s comedy pilot Little Brother, which centers on a man who discovers he has a half-brother who also happens to be an ex-con. According to Deadline, Salazar plays a cashier/clerk who works at the other brother’s music store. Like the show’s half-brother, Salazar’s character is also an ex-con.
Her roles seem to have increased in frequency and size, and Salazar seems well aware of it
“I’ve been pretty fortunate and lucky,” Salazar said of her acting career thus far. “And pinching myself.”
It isn’t a dream – and we can’t wait to see where else acting brings her.
