Most celebrities are known for their beauty, sense of fashion, taste in men or sometimes even (gasp!) their raw talent. But rarely are they ever admired for their brains.
So, in the spirit of all the recent inspirational commencement speeches we’ve heard, we decided to tip a hat to the Latina celebs who have stuck to their guns and pursued degrees in higher education. Here’s to setting an example with your actions chicas!
School: Texas A & M, Cal State Northridge
Degrees: BA Kinesiology, MA Chicano Studies and Political Science
Longoria graduated from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a degree in kinesiology (the study of body movement) back in 1998. But this book worm wasn’t done learning! In 2009, she headed back to school and enrolled at Cal State Northridge to pursue a Masters Degree in Chicano Studies and Political Science. Of course, Longoria is acing her classes. "I have an A right now. I'm a nerd," the Desperate Housewives actress slyly boasted.
