In honor of this very special day, we're celebrating the most attractive celebs who hail from the beautiful country... because those dominicanos/dominicanas are something else, aren't they?
Introducing the sexiest Dominicans in Hollywood! Who did we miss?
With additional reporting by Tom Castaneda
1. Cardi B@iamcardib/Instagram
The Dominican-Trinidadian rapper has the biggest come up story. The Bronx native went from stripper, to social media personality, to successful top chart hitting rapper. She was the first person of Dominican descent to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Okkurrt!
2. Amara La Negra@amaralanegraaln/Instagram
Amara La Negra has been garnering attention ever since her debut in Love and Hip Hop: Miami. The Miami-born Afro-Dominican singer is vocal about celebrating her African roots, afro-textured natural hair, and her beautiful dark complexion. What's not to love?
3. Jackie Cruz@jackiecruz/Instagram
Jackie Cruz from Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” is a Dominican-American who is also a singer, entrepreneur, feminist. She credits her Dominican culture to who she is today.
5. Jessica Pimentel@thecrusher007/Instagram
Jessica Pimentel is a Dominican-American actress, known for her role as Maria Ruiz in Orange is the New Black. The 35-year-old leads a double life as a lead singer of the heavy metal band Alekhine's Gun.
6. Dominicans: Ashanti
Ashanti, Ashanti, Ashanti. The woman, who is also of African-American and Chinese descent, embodies sexy. That caramel skin and those perfectly arched eyebrows are enough to entice anyone.
7. Dominicans: Victor Rasuk
Where do we start? Victor Rasuk first captured our hearts in the indie gem Raising Victor Vargas – and has continued to do so in every role he’s played. That NYC accent, those lips, the grittiness/humility about him. Did we mention those lips?
8. Dominicans: Omayhra Mota
It’s no wonder Gwen Stefani put in a special request to have Omahyra Mota flown in to walk in L.A.M.B.’s runway show during New York Fashion Week in 2005. The 28-year-old Dominican fashion model and actress is striking beauty with the X-Men factor. Mota – who was named one of Paper magazine's 50 most beautiful people in 2001, when she was only 16 – starred as Arclight in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
9. Dominicans: Zoe Saldana
Brains and beauty are the best way to describe one of our top “It” girls. The 39-year-old Zoe Saldana has captivated the attention of many in Hollywood, and never ceases to stun on red carpets – like this past weekend at the Oscars, for example.
10. Dominicans: Celines Toribio
There’s no doubt that Celinés Toribio is a looker. The Santo Domingo-born actress and television/radio personality, who once served as a host for the ESPN Deportes show Sabor a Beisbol, was even featured in a special Maxim profile in September 2004, dressed in a bikini and holding a mighty big bat. But Toribio is more than a pretty face; she also has a big corazón. She established the Latino Youth in Communication Arts organization to give underprivileged youth from the Bronx area exposure to career options in the communication industry.
11. Dominicans: Arlenis Sosa
Born in Montecristi, Dominican Republic, Arlenis Sosa moved to New York after high school and, judging by her looks, the rest is history. The gorgeous dominicana has appeared in Vogue, Vogue Italia, and is a current spokesmodel for Lancôme. She’s even appeared flawlessly covered Latina.
12. Dominicans: Michelle Rodriguez
There’s a reason Michelle Rodriguez’s character has been brought back from the dead in the Fast and Furious 6... This girl is on fire! The half-Dominican/half-Puerto Rican actress often portrays tough girls in her projects, like her role as the hard-nosed captain Trudy Chacon in Avatar. But there’s nothing hotter than a good-looking girl who can kick your butt!
13. Dominicans: Prince Royce
Ever since the young Bronx-bred bachatero sang his way into the Latin music scene with “Stand By Me,” fans have been doing the same – standing by him. They have fallen in love with not just the music, but his charm – band those dimples too.
14. Dominicans: Juelz Santana
He may be famous for his Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single "There It Go (The Whistle Song)," but Juelz Santana could easily get whistles himself. The Afro-Dominican hip-hop artist is one handsome man!
15. Dominicans: Andy Andy
He’s commonly referred to as “El Astro de la Bachata,” but Andy Andy could be called “El Guapo de la Bachata.” The Dominican singer makes the ladies swoon with his melodic voice and his striking good looks.
16. Dominicans: Sergio Vargas
Talk about aging gracefully! Back in 1986, a fresh-faced Sergio Vargas released his first singer, “La Quiero a Morir.” Nearly 30 years later, the meringue singer-songwriter still hasn’t lost his boyish looks.
17. Dominicans: Kat DeLuna
In Kat DeLuna’s hit single “Animal,” the singer/dancer chants “I'm a warrior princess; I have got jewel eyes of an eagle.” And she’s not lying... DeLuna is a stunner with piercing eyes and sizzling dance moves.
18. Dominicans: Alex Rodriguez
A-Rod is sexy… and all of Hollywood knows it. No, seriously - the man's dated some of the most coveted female actresses. The Yankees heavyweight (who is now unfortunately on crutches) is definitely a ladies man. Who can blame him, though?
19. Dominicans: Julissa Bermudez
Former fashion model Julissa Bermudez set hearts aflutter when she co-hosted BET’s 106 & Park with her gorgeous looks and effervescent personality. But it’s the television personality and actress’ room-illuminating smile, as witnessed on her Style network reality series Empire Girls: Julissa and Adrienne, that really sets her apart.
20. Dominicans: Lourdes Benedicto
Lourdes Benedicto, who most recently starred on ABC’s short-lived V series, has been hailed as one of the “Babes of 24” for good reason… The actress of Dominican/Spanish and Filipino descent, who portrayed Carrie Turner on the second season of 24, is one eye-catching woman.
21. Dominicans: Rick Gonzalez
If you’re one who finds humor to be attractive, then you find Rick Gonzalez to be one sexy man. The actor of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent, who starred in the CW’s supernatural series Reaper, isn’t just a good-looking man with a great smile. He’s also quite funny, bringing a little bit of comedy to every role.
22. Dominicans: Romeo Santos
One glance at Romeo Santos may have you repeating a famous Shakespeare line: “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” The singer and former Aventura member, who has achieved great success as a solo artist, is F-I-N-E, FINE! And you know you can’t resist an attractive man with a beautiful voice?
23. Dominicans: Henry Santos
Sure, his cousin Romeo Santos may get more attention. But fellow Aventura member Henry Santos is similarly guapo. And the Dominican-born singer, the group’s songwriter and producer, has even more positive traits. He’s hilarious, charming and can dance, as proven by the title he earned after his run on the third season Univision’s Mira Quien Baila in 2012: "El Rey de la Pista."
24. Dominicans: Lenny Santos
Maybe it’s the fact that he plays guitar, but Lenny Santos has some serious guns. Have you seen his biceps? And the former Aventura member isn’t bad on the eyes either!
25. Dominicans: Max Santos
Max Santos from Aventura
Like his fellow Aventureros, Max Santos is fine-looking specimen. But what separates the bass player from the rest of the band is his sexy hip-hop-esque swagger. Max, who has some serious rap skills, even waxed poetic on the band’s track "Don’t Waste My Time," as well as the Nina Sky single "You're Lying."
26. Dominicans: Judy Marte
It’s might’ve been harder to really appreciate Judy Marte’s beauty when she portrayed a rookie police officer in CBS’ short-lived drama NYC 22, but the Dominican-American actress definitely has the looks that turn heads.
27. Dominicans: Sohanny
If you’ve watched the Technicolor-inspired music video for Sohanny’s dancetastic single “Get Loose” with rapper Vein, which appears on the Step Up Revolution soundtrack, then you know the singer is hot, hot, hot! The girl’s got smokin’ hot looks, a bangin’ bod and legs that go for days.
28. Dominicans: Luny Tunes
It’s double the looks and double the fun when talking about Luny Tunes. That’s because the Dominican reggaeton duo made up of Francisco Saldaña (Luny) and Víctor Cabrera (Tunes) are as handsome as they are talented.
29. Dominicans: Judy Reyes
It’s been said that “the eyes are the windows to the soul.” If that’s the case, then Judy Reyes has a beautiful soul. The Dominican actress, who will be starring in Lifetime’s Devious Maids, has inviting eyes that can captivate and delight with just one glance
30. Dominicans: Leslie Grace
Though still technically a teenager, bachata newcomer Leslie Grace’s looks are timeless. A true beauty, with a golden voice that perfectly accompanies it.
31. Dominicans: Junot Diaz
It can’t hurt to call Junot Díaz a literary sex symbol – can it? The acclaimed writer/professor with his signature shaved head and glasses makes us all want to read our entire library. Oh and, ladies, the man’s got a Pulitzer.
32. Dominicans: Tristan Wilds
It comes as little shock that Tristan Wilds was named to People’s "Most Beautiful People" list in 2009. The actor and the star of the CW’s 90210 reboot has a smile that can light up a room. “He’s like a young Denzel Washington,” we declared when we named him to Latina’s own Most Beautiful list.
33. Dominicans: Dania Ramirez
Dania Ramirez recently broke a lot of hearts when news broke that the Devious Maids actress married director/writer John Beverly "Bev" Amos Land at a ceremony in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. That’s because the Dominican-born actress has been setting tongues wagging with her smoldering looks since first appearance as Maya on NBC’s Heroes back in 2007.
34. Dominicans: Fabolous
Since releasing his debut album Ghetto Fabolous in 2001, Fabolous has been making his mark in the hip-hop world with his mad lyrical skillz. But the Afro-Dominican hip-hop artist has had the ladies saying “Damn,” which happens to be the title of one of hit singles, with his sweltering swagger.
35. Dominicans: Emily B
Emily B is proof that curvy is beautiful – if anyone had any doubt! The gorgeous star of Love and Hip Hop always looks glamorous – and her humble and calm personality makes her looks skyrocket farther.
36. Dominicans: Manny Ramirez
What can we say? We love a man with dreads. And baseball star Manny Ramirez has been rocking his for a while now.
37. Dominicans: Robinson Cano
Ayyy, Robinson Cano from the New York Yankees. This man is so fine that, if baseball were to crumble for him, Cano could always aim to be a model. Of course, the likelihood that this would happen is very slim, seeing as that Cano is an award-winning player. And we all love winners, don’t we?
38. Dominicans: Amelia Vega
There’s no denying that Amelia Vega’s looks are out of this world… The Dominican-born model has the Miss Universe crown to prove it. Vega, who won the title when she was only 18, is the first Dominican woman to win the international beauty pageant.
39. Dominicans: Anais Martinez
Anaís Martínez enchanted the Latin music world with her big, bold voice back in 2006, when she released her debut album Asi Soy Yo. The Dominican born singer, who got her big break when she won the second season Univision Puerto Rico’s reality-show competition Objetivo Fama, has gotten just as much attention for her stunning looks. In fact, Smooth declared that Martínez has a “voice like Whitney Houston” and a “booty like Beyonce” when the Puerto Rican idol graced the cover of the magazine’s 2008 Muy Caliente issue.
40. Dominicans: Gelena Solano
It must be difficult to be Gelena Solano. Based in New York City, the Gordo y La Flaca reporter is always on the go, gorgeous, and in heels. Whether she’s interviewing the biggest Latin celebs or a regular civilian, Solano is a certified head-turner.
41. Dominicans: Daneida Polanco
The Entertainment Correspondent for Univision’s Primer Impacto has a gorgeous body, a gorgeous face, gorgeous eyebrows, gorgeous hair…. do you know what we mean?
42. Dominicans: Jesse Terrero
Jessy Terrero may be a Latino powerhouse in the entertainment world and a rising star in Hollywood behind the scenes. The Dominican-born film and music video director who directed the smokin’ hot music video for Wisin y Yandel and Jennifer Lopez’s “Follow the Leader,” has leading man looks that could put George Clooney to shame.
43. Dominicans: Ulysses Terrero
Jessy isn’t the only sexy Terrero. His equally talented brother, Ulysses Terrero – a director, producer and casting director – is one attractive man. ¡Ay, caramba!
44. Dominicans: Karen Olivo
It’s no surprise that Karen Olivo earned a Tony award in 2009 for portraying the spitfire Anita in the Broadway revival of West Side Story. The beautiful 41-year-old part-Dominican actress masterfully captured the character’s sultry and saucy nature with a whole lot of ease.
45. Dominicans: Miguel A Nunez Jr.
Miguel A. Núñez, Jr.
Sure, Miguel A. Núñez, Jr. did not make a really attractive woman in his gender-bending lead role as a basketball star who impersonates a female to join the women’s basketball team in the 2002 film Juwanna Mann. But out of drag, the New York-born actor of Dominican descent is definitely much easier on the eyes.
46. Dominicans: Birmania Rios
She’s by far one of our favorite television journalists – and the most attractive too. The razor sharp Despierta America correspondent (and mother to Valentina) has beautiful caramel skin and a smile that can blind from miles away.
47. Dominicans: Sessilee Lopez
The Dominican/Portuguese beauty has walked for a seemingly endless stream of designers on the runway. And why couldn’t she? Look at her!
48. Dominicans: AraabMuzik
What is sexier than the music AraabMuzik’s produces? The man himself. Those lips. That talent. That chin of his. We should thank his parents.
49. Dominicans: Reyna
The gorgeous star of MTV’s Washington Heights is fiery and can have a bit of an attitude if you cross her. Still, we can’t help but be captivated by Reyna’s beauty and loyalty to her friends.
50. Dominicans: Frankie
51. Dominicans: Rico Rasuk
Well, they must call him Rico for a reason. When we met the tatted-up star of MTV’s Washington Heights this past holiday season, he wore a shirt that read: “I Am The Dominican Dream.” We believe it. Oh, and did we mention he has a gorgeous half-smile? Yep.
52. Dominicans: Frederick Rasuk
The star of MTV’s Washington Heights (and Rico’s younger bro) is tall and kind of lanky. We dig him. Who can resist that gorgeous face and hustle spirit? Tell us… who?
