Fake Feuds: Are Hollywood’s Biggest Rivalries All Made Up?

Lindsay Lohan vs. Hillary Duff. Selena Gomez vs. Miley Cyrus. Christina Aguilera vs. Britney Spears. Most so-called celebrity feuds are nothing more than the imaginings of a male-dominated industry that pits women against each other for the sake of entertainment value— that is, if you believe Selena Gomez, who told us last year that her rumored rivalry with Demi Lovato was not only a fictional one, but also the product of that very well established Hollywood double standard. This week, when Christina Aguilera came out as a huge supporter of her supposed archnemesis, Britney Spears, people were surprised, but they shouldn't have been. Their rivalry was nothing more than a faux feud. Here are five of our favorites!

Christina Aguilera vs. Britney Spears

These Mickey Mouse Club alums have reportedly been feuding since they were both breakout pop stars in the late '90s, battling each other for chart dominance. However, based on their interaction on Twitter recently, it's clear there's no rivalry. Last week, Aguilera tweeted the following at her rumored archnemesis: "Hey @BritneySpears Congrats on Femme Fatale release! Can't wait to see what you bring in the next video. xo." Britney sweetly replied: "Thanks @TheRealXtina. Can't wait to watch you on your new show. Hope we get to hear that voice on The Voice." Of course, the press just had to know why Xtina would do such a thing. She explained: “I am a huge supporter of her in light of the fact that both of our careers started off together and are still going and going strong." War. What war?
