We caught up with Roberto Martinez, winner of Ali Fedotowsky's heart on season 6 of The Bachelorette to see how wedding plans are coming along since his bride-to-be was injured and had to postpone the wedding. Among other things, we found out that Ali really wants warm weather for the wedding so the special day will most likely scheduled for next spring or summer and that so far, Roberto hasn't had to deal with any scary bridezilla moments—which we have to say is pretty admirable given the circumstance.
Here's what Martinez had to tell us about his upcoming nuptials, culture clash between his Latino family and Ali's, and what he's looking forward to from married life:
Congrats on your engagement to Ali and being the chosen one. How is the wedding planning going? Have you guys set a date?
Thank you! Well, right now we are just hanging out and looking at things. We are just enjoying our time in San Diego. No, we don’t have a date set yet.
How is Ali recovering from her leg injury?
She is doing well. She has had some physical therapy and she is feeling a lot better. She is starting to have a lot more mobility and she is starting to feel good, which is good for both of us.
Have you had to deal with any bridezilla moments?
No, in that regard she sticks to watching the girls on television. [Laughs] Thank God she hasn’t had one of those moments. I would be a little worried if she did.
How has it been with your families? Any culture clashes?
No clashes at all. Our families spend a little bit of time together. Everyone just has a good time together. Puerto Rican families bond and are very warm and welcoming. Ali’s dad was over for Christmas last year and we just had a great time. Good food, arroz con gandules, pasteles, mofongo…you name it everything was there. We had good food and good music so it’s hard not to have a good time with us.
What are you most looking forward to about married life?
Probably just having a family. Being able to have that is a beautiful thing. I was blessed enough to be raised in a beautiful family and be around that. So I look forward to that.
