Salma Hayek Developing New Comedy Series

Now that her Parisian vacation is over, Salma Hayek is back behind her desk at the Ventanarosa offices in Hollywood, where she is developing a new comedy series for Fox. The show, called The New McToms, centers on a conservative matriarch who must face the reality of her three children marrying ethnically diverse spouses.

There's no denying that the way Latinos are portrayed in the media has made a lot of progress since the days of Carmen Miranda's fruit-bowl hats and Ricky Ricardo's broken English. But before Jennifer Lopez's exotic good looks started bringing in millions, or Daddy Yankee and Ricky Martin could capitalize on the worldwide Latin music explosion, many others had to work hard and endure rejection to open the doors that we all walk through now.

but we couldn't help but notice that the characters on the screen were
a bit too vanilla for our taste. So we decided to shake things up on the

have color TVs for a reason, right?

Brangelina to Adopt Child from Latin America?

Next stop on the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie baby train: South America? If rumors are to be believed (and in this case, we really want to believe them!), then the parents-of-six are looking to add one more to their bunch from an impoverished Latin American country such as Bolivia or Paraguay.

"The focus on South America comes from Jolie's interest in drawing attention to the large number of desperately needy orphaned children in that region," says columnist Liz Smith.

Salma Hayek needs to write a book on how to remain friendly with your ex. The actress-entrepreneur has been spending lots of time with her former flame Francois Henri Pinault,mostly for the sake of their daughter Valentina Paloma, but it seems like these two enjoy each other's company even without the baby in tow.

Mario Lopez to Write Children's Book

We've seen Mario Lopez sign up for some pretty random gigs to keep his name in the papers, but children's book author is one that even surprised us.

The muscle-bound actor is working on an illustrated children's book called Mud Taco, based on his adventures as a Mexican kid growing up in California. In keeping with the family-friendly theme, Mario will be working with his sister Marissa to write the book, which will come out next year.
