Demi Lovato: "I Was Lying to Everyone About Eating and About Being Happy"

Yesterday we reported that Demi Lovato’s new single “Skyscraper” was dropping.  The video for the song premieres tonight on E! News at 7pm ET/PT. The 18-year-old former Disney star has struggled through a lot this year, having spent time in a rehabilitation center last November for emotional and physical issues.

The former Sonny with a Chance star opened up yesterday in a revealing interview with Ryan Seacrest about everything from her eating disorder to her depression. Her family has known about her issues with food and eating for about six years.  “I was able to check in with them but it got to a point where I just was lying about eating and about being happy,” she said.

Demi Lovato’s Out of Rehab—Now What?

Spending Christmas in a Chicago area rehab center was tough for Lovato, who was released in January.  “I just remember sometimes sitting there and being like, ‘I had so much six months ago, and here I am in a treatment center,'” she said.  “What has my life become?  How did I let it get to this point?”

The song "Skyscraper" is about finding the strength to overcome a broken relationship, so of course questions about Joe Jonas were inevitable and as usual, Demi handled them with grace under pressure. "He was my best friend for years prior to that so he knew—when we shot the first  movie together," she admits when asked whether or not her ex-boyfriend was aware of her issues. "Obviously I'm not super close with him any more just because a lot has happened, but I was very thankful to have the support of a lot of friends."

In the “Skyscraper” video, which was directed by producer Mark Pellington, Lovato is seen standing alone in a desert. Check out the teaser below:
