Demi Lovato, of course, was #WithHer during this presidential election. But on election night, the 24-year-old singer may have accidentally made it seem as though she supported Donald Trump.
Lovato, like many, took to social media to express her political views on the 2016 Presidential Election. “#IVotedBecause I believe in equality, we need comprehensive immigration reform, I am pro-choice and global warming IS real. #ImWithHer,” she wrote. In other tweets, the singer called upon all individuals to cast their vote, regardless of which candidate they favored.
Perez Hilton, however, reports that the star went off the rails a bit, supposedly in support of Trump. “Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree and grab some pussy,” she tweeted.
Now, if you know Lovato, you know she's often sarcastic, so while many may have thought she was tweeting in support of Trump, we were pretty confident she didn't mean it in a serious manner.
And just as we suspected, the singer later came to clear up the issue by issuing an apology and deleting her tweet. “I apologize for the joke I made earlier.. seemed to offend some people," Lovato said. "Just making light of the election.” Following the evening's results, the former Disney star even tweeted her concern over Trump's win. "God bless my little sister's generation," she tweeted.
In January, Lovato joined Clinton’s trail, singing for a large rally in Iowa and offering her support to the first female candidate’s entire campaign. "I don’t think there is a woman more confident than Hillary Clinton,” Lovato told the 2,000 fans at the University of Iowa campus. "I am voting for her because of her beliefs, her strength and the fact that she completely embodies the concept of women empowerment.”
