The People’s Choice Awards were last night and two of the big winners in the music category were Latinos!
First, part-Mexican Demi Lovato performed her new single “Give Your Heart A Break” and was surprised by her popular vote win for Favorite Pop Artist. Her powerhouse performance (impressive vocal acrobatics included) was followed by a humble acceptance speech in which she thanked her fans for their support. She even received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Another winner of the night was half-Puerto Rican Bruno Mars, who won for Favorite Male Artist. This award was non-televised, but Mars tweeted his reaction: I'm currently walking down the street screaming "I am an ultimate male"!! Thank you at @peopleschoice and to those that voted! #hooligans”
