Daily Chisme: Sofia Vergara Is Not a "Serious Actress" Like Penelope Cruz

Happy Monday! It's time to start off your week with a little chisme...

- Sofia Vergara admitted in an interview with HoyCinema that she plans on sticking to comedy rather than more serious roles: "I never thought of becoming an actress like Penelope Cruz, who has been acting all her life. She has gone to acting school, and she is a serious actress. I prefer doing comedy. I have always been naturally inclined to it," said Veraga. Interesting!

- Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has apparently found himself in a bit of a catfight. Cathy Horyn of the New York Times stated in a review of the Dominican desigher that, "Mr. de la Renta is far more a hot dog than an eminence grise of American fashion." Oscar de la Renta retorted with a public letter stating, "If you have the right to call me a hot dog, why do I not have the right to call you a stale, 3-day old hamburger?" Are those fighting words? We're not sure, but now we're a bit hungry.

- Marc Anthony celebrated his 44th birthday at Tao Las Vegas with girlfriend Shannon de Lima. The Tao "bottle fairy" descended down a zip line waving a Puerto Rican flag, delivering a cake to the singer. Mario Lopez, who was also at Tao, stopped by to wish Marc a happy birthday. Sounds like a fun night!

- Eva Longoria hosted a private dinner to celebrate the work of the Eva Longoria Foundation in support of the Latina community. The dinner jumpstarted the series of events leading up to the broadcast of the 2012 ALMA Awards on Friday. Will you be watching?
