Wave your flags in the air! We are celebrating Colombia's Independence Day by taking a look at the beautiful Latinas that represent their country and culture to the fullest!

1. Colombians: Shakira


Representing her hometown of Barranquilla with full force, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer is one of the most success crossover stars in the history of pop culture. Her latest album, Sale el Sol sold over four million copies worldwide and produced hits like, "Rabiosa" and "Loca." Her nonprofit organization, Pies Descalzos, has also provided educational opportunities to thousands of children in Colombia.

2. Colombians: Sofia Vergara

Barranquilla stand-up! Besides recently being named the highest paid actress on television by Forbes, Sofia is the queen of her own empire. She reportedly made $19 million for her role as the hilarious comedy, Modern Family, and her endorsements deals last year.

3. Colombians: Fanny Lu

Hailing from Santiago de Cali, Fanny Lu is a television personality and singer responsible for hits like "Tú No Eres Para Mi" and “Y Si Te Digo.” The 39-year-old is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization.

4. Colombians: Alexa Vega

The Colombian-American actress, who recently announced her split from husband Sean Covel, is one of the most talented young Latinas under 25 in Hollywood. We can expect to see the Spy Kids star in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming drama, Machete Kills. That’s a far cry from playing Carmen Cortez! Keep making us proud Alexa!

5. Colombians: Carmen Villalobos

The Ojo po Ojo (Eye for an Eye) actress from Barranquilla stars in one of the highest-rated telenovelas around. When it comes to her Latina pride she told us exclusively, "We have the type of personalities that people just gravitate towards. Latinas are authentic and real with ourselves in a way that is very unique to us, I think."

Born in Medellin and raised in New York, the 38-year-old actress is best known for her role as Maria in the Harold and Kumar installments. She has also has guest appearances in drama series like, The Sopranos, The Good Wife, and Breakout Kings.
