Aguilera's mistake received a lot of flack on social media, which she later tried to diffuse through a written statement. "I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place,” Aguilera’s statement read. “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.”
After Aguilera for the worst singer of the National Anthem is Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler, who didn’t quite hit some high notes during his performance last year at the AFC Championship Game. In third place (with 13.1 percent) came Dominican American singer Kat De Luna, who sang the National Anthem at a 2008 NFL game with 13.1 percent.
