Christina Aguilera has joined the fight against hunger. The singer and highest-paid judge on The Voice filmed a public service announcement recently for Yum Brands’ World Hunger Relief campaign. The effort, launching this fall will benefit the UN World Food Programme and various other agencies that provide relief from hunger.
“As a mother and myself having a 3-year-old son, its important for me to get involved and show this example to him,” the 30-year-old singer told Access Hollywood. “He has so many opportunities in front of him and he’s so young and impressionable. You look at his face and you want to do all in your power to help them thrive, so every child deserves that opportunity as well.”
This isn’t Aguilera’s first time working with the World Food Programme. Last year, the singer traveled to Haiti to meet school children who have benefited from the program. She also visited mothers and children who were affected by the earthquake that shattered the country. “The children deserve a chance and I want to make sure they get a chance,” Aguilera said at the time. In 2009, Aguilera was named a global ambassador by the World Hunger Relief non-profit organization.
