Christina Aguilera to Perform in Hurricane Sandy TV Special

Christina Aguilera is using her pipes for good!

The Ecuadorean singer will be performing in a live, hour-long telethon dubbed "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" to support the victims of Hurricane Sandy, reports Other stars rocking the benefit include, Bruce Springsteen, Billy JoelJon Bon Jovi, Mary J Blige and Sting. (That's some serious star power!)

According to USA Today, the telethon will also feature appearances by Kevin Bacon, James Gandolfini, Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams.

The hour-long special will air on multiple networks, including NBC, Bravo, CNBC, USA Network, and the Syfy network from 8-9 pm EST on Friday. And if you miss the show on Friday night, you can watch a live-stream of the performances on after the show.

Today show host (and guapo, to us!) Matt Lauer orchestrated he saw the effects of Hurricane Sandy in a neighborhood in Rockaway Beach, Queens. Lauer urged NBC Universal CEO Steve Burke to hold the telethon.

"I came back and said, 'We've got to do something quickly here,'" Lauer says. "I feared facing a period next week where the focus would be blurred. We've got an election coming up, and I feared people affected by this would be pushed to the side."

Burke hopes to raise "tens of millions of dollars" for relief efforts.

NBC backed a similar telethon back in 2005, which was also hosted by Lauer, after Hurricane Katrina. That telethon raised 40 million dollars! And with so many people in need of help and resources, let's hope this telethon is even more successful!

All proceeds from the benefit will go to  The Red Cross
