Puerto Rican Singer Cheo Feliciano Confirms Cancer Diagnosis

Jose Luis Feliciano Vega (best known as Cheo Feliciano) has confirmed that he is suffering from cancer, according to Fox News Latino. The 77-year-old Puerto Rican singer shared the news in a statement on Wednesday.

“Two months ago I was diagnosed with a form of treatable cancer,” the statement read. “Thanks to my God who has never abandoned me in these 77 years of life and to the group of excellent doctors in charge of my health care, I'm in full recovery.”

Feliciano, who is a huge figure in the salsa and bolero world, said that members of the medical team treating him are very optimistic about his condition. The Ponce-born Feliciano said he was assured that he would be back on his feet and performing in a few months - which is like music to an artist's ears.

“I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to publicly express my thanks for the unconditional support I've received, first from my family, my children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter and my rock, my beloved wife Coco,” the singer continued in his statement. So sweet.
