What's the best advice your mom has given you?
I was raised by my grandma.  My grandma's best advice is to work hard like my grandfather.  My grandfather was a hard working Mexican man.  I followed her advice and it got me to where I am today.

What's your favorite memory with your Grandma?
My favorite memory with my grandma would be going camping at Dinkey Creek with the family and when she cooked really big at the campsite.

What's something sweet your Grandma does for you?
She would cook me a meal at a split second's notice.  She still pampers me.  Even though she can't move like she used to, but for me she is still strong as a lion.

What's the best advice your mom has given you?
To never give up on my dreams, to demand respect, and to always rely on myself.

What's your favorite memory with your mom?
My fondest memory of my mother and I is when I was three years old...she had given birth to my little sister and when she brought her home from the hospital for us to meet for the first time, she made it a point to make me feel loved and special. It's a moment I cannot express into words.

What's something sweet your mom does for you?
Wow, there's a lot of sweet things such as gifting me great novels and giving me peace of mind by taking excellent care of my daughter while I'm away at work, but the very best is when she cooks my favorite meal.

What's the best advice your mom has given you?
Not to worry, because this too, shall pass. She says that all the time, and it's true.

What's your favorite memory with your mom?
I was four and really sad because my older sister was going to school and I was still too young. My mom took me on a long walk to cheer me up and we had a picnic by the brook.

What's something sweet your mom does for you?
She sneaks home-baked food into my luggage. I pretend to be mad about the sweets, but I love it.

What’s the best advice your mom has given you?
Never settle in love.  Trust that you will find "the one."  She always would say, "You know when you know" and I finally got the chance to know what that means.

What’s your favorite memory with your mom?
For my birthday my mom took my grandma and I to Paris!  We had the time of our lives...museums, window shopping, french bakeries and great restaurants.

What’s something sweet your mom does for you?
Every time we visit with my parents, I always seem to go home with food, furniture or something for the home decor.  She is constantly thinking of me when it comes to making my house a home.  Either that or she has a shopping problem!

What’s the best advice your mom has given you?
Growing up, my mom always told me to learn from other people's mistakes so that I wouldn't have to make them.

What’s your favorite memory with your mom?
One of my favorite memories with my mom was on my 5th birthday. We didn't have a lot of money so my dad didn't want to get me a cake. All I wanted was a cake so my mom took two Twinkies, put five candles on it and she and my older sister sang me happy birthday. My mom wasn't a baker but she made it a special birthday! I remember thinking, none of my friends have Twinkie birthday cakes! My mom has a heart of gold.

What’s something sweet your mom does for you?
We live 3,000 miles apart so she always makes it a point to call me to make sure I'm ok. And on my birthday she always leaves me a message singing happy birthday in Spanish. She's always been a great mom/dad so my sisters and I get her a gift and card for Father's Day AND Mother's Day every year. The card usually reads "Happy Father's Day Mom!"

The way she cooks my favorite dish every time I visit her, a Dominican moro con gandules y platanos maduros con carne y ensalada.

What’s the best advice your mom has given you?
Just to be myself, even if I may not always be satisfied with the kind of person I may currently be.  That despite the imperfect person I may be, people can still appreciate who you are and you can still help others from the strengths you have.

What’s your favorite memory with your mom?
The times she would try to get me to dance even though I'm not very good at it.  It's fun seeing how much she enjoys dancing and having a good time.

What’s something sweet your mom does for you?
She is always willing to help whenever I may be having a hard time with something or feeling overwhelmed.  She tries to look at things in a way where she doesn't just try to be understanding, but helps motivate me to know I can find a way to improve whatever situation it may be and overcome it.
