Morena beat out over 900 girls for the coveted lead role in Maria Full of Grace, a film that went on to receive incredible critical acclaim and multiple award nominations.

She received many accolades for her role as María Álvarez, including a Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress! She was the first Colombian, the second South American, and the third Latina to be nominated for Best Actress. 

She’s played some iconic Latina roles:
Moreno appeared in Love In The Time of Cholera as Hildebranda Sanchez, and in Che, as Aleida March, the second wife of Che Guevara, played by Benicio del Toro.

She was a vampire:
Christian Serratos isn’t the only Latina member of the Twilight cast! In Eclipse, Moreno appeared as Maria, a beautiful vampire who lured to their deaths -- or her vampire army.
