Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend of two years, Brazilian model Camila Alves, welcomed a baby boy on Monday night. The child was born at 6:22pm in Los Angeles and came in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces. "They're so happy!" a close friend told People.
Camila and Matthew have been "stoked" about their expanding family from the moment they heard the news. "Camila and I made a baby together...," Matthew wrote on his website at the time. "We are stoked and wowed."
Hopefully fatherhood will motivate Matthew to put down the cervezas and pick up the baby bottle. His brother, Rooster, seems to think he has what it takes. "He'll make a really good dad because he's got a lot of patience," he said when he heard the baby news. "I'm excited for him. It's about time."
We know it's only a matter of time before we see Matt, Camila and their baby boy hitting the beach. Until then, felicidades to the happy family!
UPDATE: Matt and Camila have revealed that their little boy's name is Levi Alves McConaughey. "Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person," Matthew explains to OK! Magazine. "Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: 'If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.'"
Congrats again to Matthew, Camila and Levi!
