The actors have spoken, and Argentinean actress Bérénice Bejo and Mexican actor Demián Bichir are among the nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards!
Bichir was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his tender portrayal of an undocumented gardener and single dad in the Chris Weitz film A Better Life. His fellow nominees in the category include Hollywood A-listers like Leonardo Dicaprio (J.Edgar), George Clooney (The Descendants), Brad Pitt (Moneyball) and French actor Jean Dujardin (The Artist).
Argentinean actress Bérénice Bejo—who we've been predicting all year long for an Oscar nomination—received a well-deserved Best Supporting Actress nomination for her charming performance in the French silent film, The Artist. Her competition in the category includes Octavia Spencer (The Help), Jessica Chastain (The Help), Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), and Janet McTeer (Albert Nobbs). Bejo's film The Artist was also nominated for Best Ensemble Cast (SAG's equivalent to Best Picture at the Oscars).
In the TV categories, only Sofia Vergara was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC's hit comedy, Modern Family. This is the second SAG nomination for Vergara, who was previously nominated in the same category in 2009. The cast of Modern Family is also nominated for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
The SAG Awards will air January 29th on TBS. Congratulations to all of the nominees!
