Have you ever had difficulty juggling just two or three things on your plate? Now try to imagine successfully balancing over SEVEN projects under the microscope of some of the world’s biggest fans and toughest critics.
If this seems dauntingly impossible, and we do, call Selena Gomez, 20, Miss Possible. This mogul is thriving with a wildly popular singing career, a growing list of acting credits, a clothing line for Kmart, tons of charity work, a romantic relationship, and she’s recently decided to add global icon for Adidas to the record. Whew, this girl is on fire! Is anyone else thinking future J. Lo?
For this tycoon’s latest venture, Gomez has signed on to be a style ambassador for the Adidas NEO label. She’s expressed her excitement for getting jumping right into the thick of things and learning about the design process. Gomez will rock the styles for Adidas’ “Live Your Syle” seasonal campaigns starting in February for the Spring/Summer 2013 season.
The new year will ring in an event sure to delight those of us who have loved this talented chica since she was cast as Alex Russo in Disney’s Emmy Award winning Wizards of Waverly Place. That’s right, in early 2013 this wizard will be reprising her role for an hour long reunion special entitled The Wizards Return: Alex Versus Alex. The reunion will not only welcome back a lot of fan favorite characters, but it will offer a new Italian love interest for Gomez’s character. Ooooh lala! It seems like Gomez gets to have all of the fun!
In January 2012 Gomez publicized that she would be putting a hold on her singing career to focus on her work as an actress. This break can hardly be qualified as such for Gomez who has been keeping her word and churning out films that will continue to entertain us through 2013. In September, Gomez voiced the main female character, Mavis, in the animated movie Hotel Transylvania. Soon devotees can watch her in a much racier role as Faith in Spring Breakers, which Gomez vehemently tells her younger fans to steer clear of, by the way. She has small roles in Aftershock and Getaway, and she is currently filming Behaving Badly.
For those of us who crave the crooning of Gomez’s powerful -and catchy- vocals, it has been since her When the Sun Goes Down album was released in 2011 that we’ve had something new to sing along to. The wait is almost over, though, because a new album is in the works! Come March 2013 get ready to take that last album off of repeat, and prepare for some new tunes that we’re sure you’ll have committed to memory in no time!
Girls everywhere idolize Gomez not just for her singing and acting talents, but they look to her as a style icon as well. Some are simply blessed with an eye for style, and it is safe to say this fashionista has it. That is why Gomez groupies were thrilled in 2010 when it was announced that the then-teen would be starting her very own affordable clothing line, Dream Out Loud, to be sold at Kmart. Two years later it is clear that the interest in having her own label is not a passing fad for the singer/actress; her newest collection to tackle the colder temps can be found in Kmart stores now!
Gomez may be a big star, but she has an even bigger heart. Though the brunette beauty has been involved in everything from Island Dog to the Enough Project to being named an ambassador to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation in 2012, she has probably been most involved in her work with UNICEF. Gomez began in 2008 as a spokesperson for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, and in 2009 she was named the organization’s youngest ambassador ever. That’s quite a feat! Most recently, Gomez showed her support by attending UNICEF’s Snowflake Ball in NYC November 27. Keep up the great work, Selena, the world could use more young people like you!
As if everything else isn’t enough to keep Gomez crazy busy, she also has a little on-again-off-again relationship with someone most would consider the hottest name on the planet, Justin Bieber. Though the two called it quits just a few weeks ago, recently the two have seemed more on-again than anything else. While Gomez didn’t take him as her date to Tuesday’s Snowflake Ball for UNICEF, she and Bieber were spotted later that evening kissing and canoodling. We’ll be waiting impatiently for the two lovebirds to make the reconciliation official.
