5 Latino TV Characters You Don't Want to Mess With

Something awesome happened in the season six premiere of Showtime's hit serial killer drama Dexter (Oct. 2)—Lauren Velez's character (the ambitious and tough Maria Laguerta), was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain of Miami Metro Homicide! And if you thought Laguerta was tough before her big promotion, then get ready, because Laguerta is loving her new promotion and the power that comes with it. Here are a few of our favorites!

Lana Parrilla, 34

In the new ABC drama Once Upon A Time, Puerto Rican actress Lana Parrilla plays two badass characters—Regina, the calculating Mayor of the town of StoryBroook and the Evil Queen, a violent woman who vows to destroy Snow White's (Ginnifer Goodwin) life. "Of course there's a side of her that likes to f*** with people," Parrilla says of Regina. But she says her evil queen character isn't entirely evil. "There's a pain that exists inside of her and that's why she does the things that she does," says Parrilla. "She's extremely wounded."
