The High-Profile Replacement

Last July Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly announced Mariah Carey’s signing at a meeting of the Television Critics Association, and then put the pop diva on speaker phone to confirm the deal. “I am so excited to be joining American Idol,” exclaimed Carey about replacing Jennifer Lopez and joining longtime pal Randy Jackson on the show. “This kind of all just happened really quickly.” Carey, who will reportedly earn about $18 million for the season, tweeted in July, "I'm excited to help find and nurture new talent."

J. August Richards (whose first name is Jaime) is of Panamanian descent. The actor, best known for his role as vampire hunter Charles Gunn on the WB’s hit show, Angel, explained the etymology of his name: My parents are from Panama, and so there's a primary AND a secondary stress on my first name, Jaime, so it sounds like HIGH-MAY,” Richards explained. “And my middle name is actually Augusto [Ah-GOOS-toe], so that's tough too.” How cool is that?!

First, Tyler, who has partnered with Mountain Dew, who wants to appeal to the urban audience (read African American and Latino), created one of the most offensive online commercials ever.
