"It was about the time that I discovered that my predominantly Mexican heritage was going to keep me from sprouting much taller than 5'9 and all my athletic dreams came to a bitter, glass shattering end. I was about 12 or 13, so I committed to it pretty early on," said Roday in an interview with About.com.

He Wants to Play the Ultimate Conspirator on Stage

Roday, who got his star on the stage at New York University, says his dream role is portraying Cassius, one of Julius Caesar’s conspirators, in William Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. “I just don't think I'm there yet. I don't think I'm quite old enough and I don't think I'm ready,” said Roday in an interview with Starpulse.com. “In terms of classical theatre, he's always been my guy. If it's original it would have to be really dark and twisted and really different than what people think of when they think of me.”

He’s Really a Rodriguez

Roday’s real name is James David Rodriguez, but he had to change it because there was already another “James Rodriguez,” a dancer, in the Screen Actors Guild. Roday doesn’t just serve as one of the lead actors on Psych; he’s also been responsible for penning and directing several episodes of USA’s long-running series. “I've always wanted to do it all, man,” Roday told Starpulse.com in an interview. “And Psych is, sort of, the golden ticket. It has sped up that, sort of, diversifying process. Acting is certainly my first love but writing and directing has been on the ‘to do’ list for a long time. I'll use the experience I've had on Psych to push as hard as I can and to as much more of it as I can.

He’s a Dog…

Roday founded the Los Angeles theater company Red Dog Squadron with Brad Raider in 2002. The non-profit theater has produced Henry V, Sexual Perversity in Chicago and Grand Delusion, among others. “By being part of this company, that means that no matter what, I’ll have an outlet  to do theatre,” Roday said to WaxahachieTX.com. “Whether that means acting, directing or producing – it simply ensures that I’ll never stray far from my roots.”

9. James Roday 9

He’s a Beautiful Man

People magazine named Roday to its 100 Most Beautiful People list in 2007. “"I thought it was kind of silly,” admitted Roday about the distinction to About.com. “My friends got a big kick out of it. It was sort of flattering. I did this photo shoot in the middle of the Hollywood Hills, poolside, wearing a tie and no shoes, and two girls in bikini's on either side of me -- yeah, it's a little silly. In all its surrealism, you realize OK, wow, somebody, somewhere has taken enough interest to do this and that feels good."
