Guillermo del Toro Dishes on New Vampire Trilogy "The Strain," Slams "Twilight"

Guillermo del Toro likes his vampire movies scary, as in, quaking in your booties scary. Not like, "romantic young men sucking on the neck of beautiful people" scary. He wants his vampires menacing and absolutely disgusting, which they should be—you know, given the fact that they're undead beings who lust after our blood and want nothing more than to eat us.

So, it comes as no surprise that even just the short synopsis of his new vampire novel "The Strain" is enough to keep us up at night: "They have always been here. Vampires. In secret and in darkness. Waiting.
Now their time has come. In one week, Manhattan will be gone. In one month, the country. In two months—the world." You know you're petrified already too, don't lie!

Check out the video below to hear Guillermo del Toro dishing about his new trilogy and if you STILL cant get enough, keep your eyes peeled for more info on the website for the series, thestrainthebook.com.

Mariela Rosario,

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
