1. Funny Bone

On where her funny personality comes from:

My family is definitely funny. I have a lot of characters in my family for sure. My mom has a really weird sense of humor. She’s kind of a "quiet" weird. If you met her you would think she was very shy, which she is, but she has a subtle sense of humor. And my dad is kind of the opposite -- [he's a] life of the party kind of guy, [always] in party mode. They are both kind of funny people.

2. Being Labeled Weird

On being labeled weird:

I don’t really care. I’m probably a lot weirder than people think I am. The only thing that I care about is I never want to come off like I’m being disrespectful, because I don’t smile that or that I have low key vibe. I don’t ever want people to think that I’m purposely trying to throw someone off balance. I’m usually not. I’m usually just being me.

3. SNL and Lack of Color

On SNL's lack of diversity:

I don’t know what to say about the diversity on Saturday Night Live. I’m sure they would want, in an ideal world, for it to be completely balanced. It should just be about who is funny. But I feel like it is a shame that there [isn't a lot of diversity]. I bet [it's also] they are not looking in the right places.

4. Hollywood Star Making Machine

On Hollywood's star machine and friendships:

It’s really easy to get lost in Hollywood. It gets complicated when you have some success and there are people who give you attention or want something from you, filling your head up with all these crazy ideas. For me it’s really important to maintain friendships that are real friendships -- people that you grew up with or people that don’t deal with the machine, because I think that’s what happens when you come out here.

5. The To Do List

On her film The To Do List:

I’ve learned going through that movie experience and a couple of others that you kind of have to live in the moment and not worry about how something is going to do. Because really my work is done when they finish shooting and after that I have no control over the marketing. I try to do as much as I can and try not to let the buzz or whatever get into my head because otherwise you're going to set yourself up for disappointment.
