When Adrienne was just 16-years-old, she became a founding member and lead singer of the R&B girl group, 3LW. The group included members Kiely Williams and Naturi Naughton. In 2000, the group released their first hit single “No More (Baby I’m a Do Right)” and it was a huge success on the charts. They released their self-titled debut album in December 2000 and it became certified platinum after selling 1.3 million copies throughout the U.S. The group released two more albums after that -- A Girl Can Mack and Naughty or Nice -- before officially disbanding.
The Cheetah Girls
Following the end of 3LW, Adrienne and fellow 3LW member Kiely were signed on by Disney to star in The Cheetah Girls movie in 2003. Adrienne starred as young teen Chanel Simmons when really at the time; she was already 20-years-old. The Cheetah Girls film was a huge success and the soundtrack even debuted at #33 on the Billboard 200. Following the film, Walt Disney Records wound up deciding to form The Cheetah Girls into a real-life girl group which was composed of Adrienne, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely. Adrienne went on to do The Cheetah Girls 2 and The Cheetah Girls: One World, and became known to the world as Adrienne the Cheetah Girl.
That’s So Raven
During her reign as a Cheetah Girl, Adrienne landed a supporting on the hit Disney Channel series, That’s So Raven. The then 20-year-old appeared on several episodes from 2003-2004 as high school student Alana, who also happened to be Raven’s “archenemy.” And Alana was certainly no joke!
Adrienne is no stranger to the world of reality TV, having appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but the premiere of her show Empire Girls: Julissa and Adrienne in 2012 was the first time fans were able to catch a closer glimpse at what her life has been like since ending her career as a Cheetah Girl. On Empire Girls, Adrienne shows how hard she's working to shed her Disney image and we were able to get a sneak peek at her designer skills, upcoming album and nail polish line.
If you watched Empire Girls on Style, then you caught a glimpse of Adrienne working on her nail polish line, Fingertip Fetish. In this very moment, Adrienne went from singer/actress to beauty product extraordinaire, developing a super creative and gorgeous line of colors.
This summer Adrienne was one of five hosts on an experimental daytime talk show called, The Real. The show proved to be perfect for the 30-year-old as she was one of the realeast ladies on there! We can't wait to see her take this on again in 2014.
I'm in Love With a Church Girl
On October 18, Adrienne's new film was released in theaters. Her starring role in I'm in Love With a Church is one of Adrienne's favorites because it was the first time she wasn't playing a character many years younger than her real age and it was one she was truly able to relate to. "For me being able to play a grown woman was a lot fun! I got to do all these things I really, really look forward to in the future," she told us during an interview.
